Hijacking a Google Phrase With A Review - John Chow

Filed under: Reviews - Phil @ 1:26 pm

It is one of the more popular blogs on the internet amongst both aspiring and established money makers in the blogasphere. In his own words, John Chow is a ‘dot com mogul’ and you would expect a blog from someone who proclaims himself as such to be tightly focused on money making topics, but www.johnchow.com is more diverse than that.Certainly there is a wealth of information about earning cash with a blog, internet marketing, SEO and getting the most from your blogging efforts but a quick look around and you’ll find plenty of random posts to broaden your reading experience. For example, as I write this review, the latest post is all about Indian food and is laced with mouth watering pictures that have made me crave a good curry. Categories covering such topics as cars, fine dining and videos sit side by side with make money online and technology. Dont let Johns tendancy to explore unrelated realms put you off though, his information on earning from a blog is faultless and, if the proof is in the pudding, then you only have to do a search on google for ‘make money online’ and you will find John Chow has postitioned himself in the top two in a relatively short time by using a very sound technique. He runs a campaign to get links to his site with the anchor text ‘make money online’.It is such a simple technique yet it is highly effective. All is required is that you post a review of his site and link back to him with the text make money online and in return he will link back to you. Its not even important what the review contains as long as you include the correct links with the correct anchor text. Using this tactical link exchange John has managed to get lots of backlinks to his site with these keywords getting himself at number 2 on google search for this important phrase. We can all learn alot from this site. One word - bookmark.

Want a Piece Of Paris Hiltons Traffic?

 make money onlineBritney Spears

There is a new trick doing the rounds for getting more search engine traffic from Google to your site. It involves linking directly to an image on googles site search and to include that image somewhere on your blog.

Its pretty simple , just go to google search and choose search images. Pick a keyword to search for and it will give you a list of images. Right click on an image of your choice and choose ‘copy link location’. Use this link location to as the url for an image you put in your post. Make sure you use the google image url and not the actual original site url. It seems a couple of pics have been blocked for doing this so maybe they are catching on already but it is a new technique and should still work for a while. Im not sure how much traffic it will provide and also it wont be relevent traffic if you use images of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and that useless singer with too many teeth from American Idol - but who would do a thing like that emoticon

I’ll post what the results are like on here after Ive given it a chance to work. If anyone has any further info on this or if they have tried it themselves please let me know.

there is a discussion on digitalpoint forums that has plenty of info and there are clear instructions here : Google Traffic Trick

Want To Make Serious Money Online ?

Filed under: Affiliate earners - Phil @ 1:55 am

I been researching affiliate schemes and looking for solid money makers that will be suitable for this site. Ive quickly realised that my best option is not going to be adsense and think I need to stay away from the typical type of adverts I see just about everywhere. My thinking is on a blog about making money online ‘ad blindless’ is going to be muchmore of a issue, particulary with adsense ads, probably more so than on many other types of sites. Most of my readers will be adsense publishers themselves and used to seeing similar adverts on their own blogs or on blogs they often read. I personally hardly ever click on adsense adverts and I cant remember ever clicking on one on a money making blog and I visit lots of these on a daily basis. Why would my readers be any different. Maybe a few people new to this area might click on them occasionally but it is’nt going to be enough to make much income. I need to look for other options that fall within the following critria:

  • Relevent to this site - i.e about making money through blogs or other online methods
  • Professional attitude and free of scams, no too good to be true promises
  • Good payment levels and options, no unreasonable payment thresholds
  • Adaptable to different sites and different marketing methods
  • Clear that it is possible to make money definately, not just another maybe.

I believe I have found an affiliate scheme that meets these critria in   Clickbooth

As soon as I started researching this company it was clear they are a class act and also that they pay good commision rates. Additionally when I saw the types of clients that clickbooth are running campaigns for it gave me even more confidence. For example Blockbuster are runnng a campaign that is paying 46us$ per sign up (more…)

Week 1 Report - Good Start

Filed under: Weekly Reports - Phil @ 7:17 pm

It has now been one week since I started this blog with the aim of making money and I have put ALOT of work into it. Much of this work has been behind the scenes stuff such as signing up with directories and search engines or adjustments to the look and feel of the blog design.Ive been working into the wee small hours at times making little adjustments to the index page and CSS when im drunk and then fixing it the next day when I wake up.

Things are getting there and the look of the blog is beginning to settle but I will always be changing and adding things as I see fit.The signing up to directories and trying to get traffic in other ways is just beginning and will always be ongoing. Its the start of a long, long road.

Here is a quick run down of some things I have done this week:

  • Researched and signed up with a free blog host - blogsome.com
  • Chose a 3 column theme cloest to my requirements.
  • Moved various sections from the right column to the left column and removed others such as the calendar function that didnt seem to serve a purpose.
  • Added adwords to the site but later changed this to be very minimum
  • Joined Mybloglog and added a latest visitors widget
  • Added buttons to the end of each post to subscribe or bookmark using addthis.com. I also added digg buttons but removed them after adding the addthis buttons.
  • Registered with several directories and search engines, added some buttons and reciprical links for some of these.
  • Signed up for mylot.com where you get payed for posting in a forum and started a few discussions - not too many replies though.
  • Signed up for linkreferral.com and browsed and reviewed some sites
  • Signed up with FairytalePTR and clicked on ALOT of payed emails (whilst doing other stuff), also with nilecash.com but they didnt send too many. Boffopaid mail is the same kind of thing but is a scam.
  • Joined the friendfinder network affiliate scheme which is REALLY GOOD and is earning already.
  • Added google search bar at the top of the page.
  • Yesterday I added a new header graphic which I made (I even took that photo myself - but its all fake miniature money!) and also changed the menu headers, post & date colours to stand out a little more as I felt it needed more colour on the site.
  • Applied and was approved for clickbooth - I have very high hopes for this affiliate scheme.
  • Posted comments on various other blogs to try to get a bit of traffic (but only on posts I find interesting - not comment spamming).
  • Added the RSS button at the top left today.
  • Posted 15 times (not including this).
  • Read alot of other blogs!

    EARNINGS : WEEK 1

   FRIENDFINDER - 11.00 US$
   ADSENSE - 0.00 US$
   FAIRYTALE PTR - 2.25 US$
   NILECASH - 0.05 US$
   MYLOT - 0.40 US$

   TOTAL - 13.70 US$

Not exactly alot of money but more than I expected in the first week and its all down to (more…)

Lose Your Dignity - Gain A Link

Filed under: Blog Promotion - Phil @ 8:49 pm

Ive just found a useful and slightly amusing site whilst reading the evil Mr Chow & its something that suits me well as I have no shame what so ever. It is a place to go and beg other sites to review your site. It is called BegForPost and is unique idea that could well get you a bit of traffic.

You simply fill in your name , blog URL and target URL (the site you are begging) and you’re grovelling message you hope will persuade them to write about you.

Now im not sure if the targeted blogger gets notified about be begged or not but Im guessing they probably do (someone beg me and Ill let you now - oooh the feeling of power) but it displays who is begging who and what the message was on the site. Maybe your beg will work, maybe not but either way you have another link on another site and every link counts.

Who needs dignity anyway.

Boffopaidmail - Too Good To Be True

Filed under: Scams - Phil @ 6:43 pm

In one of my comments Qumang mentioned a site called Boffopaidmail and I thought I would check it out as I was getting plenty of PTR (pay to read) mails sent to me from FairytalePTR and whilst it isnt a huge earner, its not a huge hassle to click on mails whilst doing other stuff and Im always willing to look at other opportunities. From the very start boffopaidmail looked too good to be true as they put 500us$ in your account just for signing up! You cant take this out of course until you reach the payment threshold and I cant find out what this is but I imagine it is not a disimilar number to Oprahs bank account.  A search on mylot threw up a few posts complaining about this scam - people never get payed but they seem to build up huge amounts of money in their accounts. When the mails did start to arrive, and there are not many of these, they say you will be payed 200us$ for reading it! Yeah right and if I use nivea face cream Ill look like Brad Pitt. To make this blatent pile of crap even worse 90% of the links are ‘outdated’ as soon as they rise - of course you can click on the advertiser link without getting payed if you wish - arent we lucky.

Ignore these idiots and dont believe anyone that says they have made money from them, unless they work for the company of course!
